There has been times in my life I have been down due to the overwhelming fact that I am a underachiever .
I should have done better at school and college , got a career ... You get the jist...
So right now i am poor, and poorer due to the fact i cant work for 90 days due to not having my work permit here in the USA.
Dumb and poor , not a good combination , when I passed a pawn shop here in Las vegas after sending my Immigration paperwork to the powers that be. Hmmmm I was wearing my watch that cost me a weeks wage back in the UK.. Why not !
After handing the lady the watch, she taps away on the PC , a few minutes pass, and then a few more,,,, then she calls someone else over,,,,, they both utter under their breaths for a few more minutes....
"Sorry sir ... I cant give you a value on this watch , but we could hold it for a $20 pay day loan"
I politely and smilingly decline the young ladies offer. I enquire to why no price could be established.
"well ,,,, we are only getting non american sites up,,, and they have a number , and a funny symbol infront of the number "
OH ?!!?!?!?!?!?! ....... Can I have a look myself at this mysteriously alien marking that is baffling these two young shop assistants...
" Its like a backwards 3 " she tries to draw it in the air like that helps ...
I reach my head around, leaning over the desk...
ummm...
errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
(insert lightbulb above my head and harmonious choir music) HALLELUJAH !

Both ladies smile...... "You do know what a pound sign is " ????!??!?!? i ask,
Both look even more bemused... " uuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmm"

I politely decline the $20 payday loan once more before leaving feeling like the love child of Einstein and steven hawkins ( some might argue i DO look like this anyway).
In Conclusion , I might not be scraping the barrel as low as I thought for many years.

oh my.... and they didn't for some reason never suspect that you might not be... american by birth? I have a slight feelin that you don't sound like you've lived in Vegas for 3 generations...
Hahaha... And it's damn right that you should feel like the love child off Einstein and Hawkings, for some strange reason I think you will do it many times over there. After all, as a native Swedish I get alot off questions about clocks, chocolate, banks and guarding the Pope, by americans this is. How can ppl be so ignorant they mistake Sweden and Schwitzerland (spelling?).... Sweden and Swizz.... Very similar, must be the same country... NOT! Ignorance is a bliss, for some and at least in the US.
In defence of us dumb yanks, our country is HUGE so if an american can master all 50 states but not know where europe is, i think that's an acheievement of sorts... ?!? but don't tar us all with the same brush, some of us have left the motherland and been out in the big bad world and we know what the GBP sign is, unfortuantely too well ;)
But damn! They are in a major city that deals with TONS of cash(gamblers from ALL over?!) and assumingly tons of foreigners too, no? should at least know a few foreign currency symbols, sheesh! makes me emabrrassed to be a yank at times.....but then again i bet you guys are embarrassed of certain stereotypes from your home countries too....i won't tar you a "charva" blunked, don't worry! ;)

Sorry to hear that you are going through a tough time, while you are waiting on paperwork.... That's my biggest fear... Just saying F@ck this place and book a 1 way flight to Calgary, and not being able to work for a few months... I wish you the best Blunked... Always
Well before anyone passes judgment i wasn't bashing the Americans at all ! Well not intentionally but as they say in for a penny , in for a pound !
I'm not labeling the Americans dumb, as we all know that border has no limits.
I have my 'special' moments too ,when I am messing about in the kitchen and putting the cereal box in the fridge and such.

Ohwell its been a week since my paper work got sent so its day 7/90 untill i am guaranteed my papers ( all being well). 83 more to go ..
Oh its Saturday too. so that means it is beer day !!!
I dont think i mentioned previously that i am on a beer diet !
I know what your thinking . This is a different beer diet though. As apose to beer being my diet. I decided to drink a single beer every week ,and thats it !
so this is week number 4/12 ( 12 bottles in the case = 12 weeks )
